General Information for Dosbarth Aur:

PE days are a Friday, please send in PE kit to be kept in lockers (plain white t-shirt, black jogging bottoms/leggings or shorts, trainers)
Please return Dosbarth Aur reading books daily, please sign your child's yellow reading record to show that they have read at home with you.
We are a healthy school so ask for water in bottles and a healthy snack for break time
Please could all belonging be clearly labelled with your child's name- especially jumpers and cardigans.

Learning in Year 1

Literacy- Throughout the year we do Read Write Inc phonics, handwriting and topic writing tasks for a range of contexts. As pupils finish Read Write Inc phonics they will move onto a writing journey and begin to complete guided reading sessions.

Maths- In Year 1 we follow the White Rose Maths scheme of work. We still carry out lots of our learning practically to embed concepts. Throughout the year we will learn about place value within 10, 20 and 100, addition and subtraction within 10 and 20, 2d and 3d shape, multiplication and division- counting in 2s, 5s and 10s, position and direction, measures: length and height, weight and volume, time and data handling. We will apply the skills we learn across our topic work. Pupils can access Sumdog maths at home as well as in school, in the Summer term we will share Times Tables Rockstars log in information as well.

Topic- Throughout the year we will do 3 different topics within the Science & Technology, Expressive Arts and Humanities areas of learning. In addition, we will do 3 wellbeing topics -What is happiness?, You Are What You Eat and Making Choices to learn about keeping our mind and bodies healthy.

A parent topic overview will be emailed out to you before each topic to inform you of what the pupils will be learning about.
