Autumn Term - What is Happiness
As part of our Health and Well-Being curriculum, pupils will be exploring the exciting three-week topic What is Happiness?. During this topic, children will take part in a range of activities designed to help them understand what happiness means to them and how they can support their own and others’ well-being. They will learn to identify and talk about different emotions, discover simple strategies to manage their feelings, and explore the importance of kindness, gratitude, and connection. Pupils will also be encouraged to set personal goals, helping them to build confidence and develop a positive mindset for learning and life.
Spring Term - You are What you eat
As part of our Health and Well-Being learning, pupils will be taking part in a three-week topic called You Are What You Eat. Throughout this topic, children will explore the importance of making healthy food choices and learn about the different food groups that help our bodies grow, stay strong, and feel good. They will also take part in activities that teach them about nutrition, balanced diets, and the benefits of staying hydrated. In addition, pupils will learn about good hygiene practices, including handwashing and food safety, helping them to understand how to keep themselves healthy inside and out.
Summer Term - Making Choices
As part of our Health and Well-Being curriculum, pupils will be taking part in a three-week topic called Making Choices. During this important topic, children will explore how the decisions they make can affect their health, safety, and relationships. They will take part in age-appropriate Relationships and Sex Education (RSE) activities, learn about the safe use of medicines, and discuss how to recognise and respond to peer pressure. Through class discussions, group work, and visits from professionals such as our Police Liaison Officer and the School Nurse, pupils will be supported to make informed, respectful, and responsible choices in their everyday lives.
How can we make healthy minds, healthy bodies and a healthy school?
Our Health and Wellbeing topic focused on physical health, mental and emotional wellbeing, decision making, social interactions and healthy relationships.
We worked on this topic across the whole school. All learners thoroughly enjoyed a wide range of experiences including activities from Mindset gym, forest school and talks from our police liaison officer PC Newman. We used the Healthy Schools resources such as PDR lessons, the SENSE dvd and Growing Up resource on HWB as well as the Chris Winter project to cover our substance use and misuse lessons.
This video provides a snapshot of the excellent work produced by pupils across the school during our topic
We hope you enjoy watching it!
